George Spencer opened his furniture store on Lorne Street in 1962. From the onset he decided to provide the Sudbury community with the best. Furniture manufacturers, Gibbard and Barrymore became his signature lines and George Spencer Furniture began establishing a reputation for its fine furnishings and accessories and making customer service a priority.

When George Spencer passed away in 1968, his son Larry Spencer began implementing his own design ideas. In 1982, Spencer's Furniture moved to The Oaks Plaza because Larry believed that the south end of the city was the place to be. In 1992, Spencer's Furniture Den reopened in the Cedar Pointe Mall and Sally Spencer, Larry's wife, began imprinting her own style on the business.

Choosing manufacturers was simple for Larry and Sally -- only the best would do. After forty years in the business, Larry knows what to look for to ensure the high quality of a piece. He stresses the importance of asking questions when purchasing furniture. Fine furniture should be constructed with hard wood, it should be blocked, glued and fastened with screws.

Larry, Sally, Monique, Elaine and Jocelyne are always there to help you discover the personality in your home. "For The Decorator In You" is more that just a slogan used by Spencer Furniture, it's a promise.
